SAVE VIRGNIA TENNIS! ONE MEMBER – ONE VOTE

USTA - WHY DO YOU WANT TO PENALIZE VIRGINIA TENNIS COMMUNITY FOR THEIR SUCCESS?

USTA Mid Atlantic Board did not represent the Virginia Tennis Community by proposing to USTA National to amend the by-laws. Virginia’s members did not have enough representation on the USTA Mid Atlantic Board, and we were outvoted and lost by 7 to 2.
(click here to see how each of the USTA Mid Atlantic Board Member Voted on this call item and their place of residence).

Did you know that the vote was taken 2 months after the President and Delegate had already presented the proposal to National to change the Bylaws!! (click here to see a full version).

Proposed: “ No District Association or subdivision of a sectional Association having three or more District Associations or subdivision shall have more than forty percent (40%) of the adjusted aggregate voting strength of the Sectional Association of which it is a part

Why it is important to stop this? If passed

Virginia Tennis players’ votes will be capped at 40% though we contribute to 57% of Mid Atlantic Section membership. Shouldn’t your vote count as much as tennis players throughout USTA organization or even Maryland and DC?
